چکیده
Erosion development is of crucial significance as it impacts prognosis and therapy decisions in patients with inflammatory joint diseases. Our study aimed to determine the sensitivity high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) detect change bone surface over time identify erosion early arthritis (EIA) patients. Moreover, contribution prognostic factors on periarticular damage first year diagnosis assessed by HR-pQCT was explored. 46 arthritic symptoms for less than one year, a clinical were prospectively imaged at baseline 12-months. scans 2nd 3rd MCP joints CR hands feet performed. Joint space width (JSW), total mineral density (Tt.BMD), presence volume HR-pQCT. Scan-rescan precision define an individual-level least significant (LSC) criterion. Regression analyses explored progression. We observed no group-level changes JSW, Tt.BMD or volume. 20% fewer demonstrated greater LSC criterion mean detected more erosions MCP. Increased symptom duration weakly associated (P < 0.10) lower JSW minimum higher standard deviation. Gradual degradation proportional duration, EIA need be closely monitored exacerbation progression damage.

Assessment of 3-month changes in bone microstructure under anti-TNFα therapy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT)
BACKGROUND Although one study showed minimal progression of erosions in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) one year after TNFα inhibition therapy, no studies have investigated very early bone changes after initiation of anti-TNFα treatment. We investigated the effects of 3-month anti-TNFα treatment on bone erosion progression and bone microarchitecture in RA patients using high-resolution ...
متن کاملBone measurements by peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) in children with cerebral palsy.
OBJECTIVE To use peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) to determine bone measurements in patients with cerebral palsy (CP) age 3 to 20 years and compare them with control subjects. STUDY DESIGN A total of 13 (5 male) patients with CP, along with 2 sex- and age-matched controls for each, were included in a mixed-model analysis with matched pairs as random effects for pQCT bone mea...
متن کاملPeripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) bone measurements in children with cystic fibrosis.
BACKGROUND Individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) have low bone density and increased fracture risk. METHODS Cross-sectional study investigating whole body bone mineral content (WBBMC), bone geometry and strength in 12 children with CF compared to 23 age- and sex-matched controls with and without adjusting for age, height, and body composition. RESULTS CF group had lower WBBMC than controls ...
متن کاملBone microarchitecture in hemodialysis patients assessed by HR-pQCT.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Dialysis patients are at high risk for low-trauma bone fracture. Bone density measurements using dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) do not reliably differentiate between patients with and without fractures. The aim of this study was to identify differences in bone microarchitecture between patients with and without a history of fracture using high-resolution periph...
متن کاملIn vivo assessment of trabecular bone microarchitecture by high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography.
CONTEXT Assessment of trabecular microarchitecture may enhance the prediction of fracture risk and improve monitoring of treatment response. A new high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) system permits in vivo assessment of trabecular architecture and volumetric bone mineral density (BMD) at the distal radius and tibia with a voxel size of 82 microm3. OBJECTIVE A...
